Teachers who have been out of the classroom for a while, or have recently moved to Queensland to teach, may have a ‘Return to Teaching’ (RTT) condition added to their registration when they register with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
This condition ensures all Queensland teachers maintain current curriculum knowledge, skills and practice.
The department’s Restart Teaching program helps teachers meet the requirements for:
Returning to teaching
- Continuing professional development (CPD)
Note: Teachers can participate in the Restart Teaching program even if their registration does not have an RTT condition. The program will boost their confidence as they return to the classroom by giving them the latest information on the current curriculum and pedagogy.
Restart Teaching is a QCT-endorsed RTT program.
The program consists of four online modules:
Module 1: Returning to the Teaching Profession (self-paced module)
Module 2: Positive Learning Environments (self-paced module)
Module 3: Teaching in the Contemporary Classroom (facilitated module)
Module 4: Engaging the Contemporary Learner (facilitated module)
Modules 1 and 2 are self-paced over a 6-week period, and must be completed within the allocated session time before commencing modules 3 and 4.
Modules 3 and 4 are fully facilitated over a 7-week block, and include an initial orientation week. During modules 3 and 4, participants will work with an experienced online facilitator to complete the program. Each facilitator is a current qualified working teacher.
Cost and payment
The program cost is $440 (including GST).
Two weeks before the course begins, successful participants will receive a unique link to an online payment portal where they can pay their course fees via credit card. All course fees must be paid by Monday 9 August 2021.
