While it’s fun to make big, bold predictions, any marketer who’s lived through the last decade knows that forecasting marketing’s future is risky business. After all, just over 10 years ago Mark Zuckerberg was still fine-tuning Facebook in his Harvard dorm room. To summarize: none of us are perfect prognosticators. Truth is, a big part of our future will be defined by technologies and trends that aren’t even on our radar right now.

 

The Australian Marketing Institute has attracted some of Australia’s finest marketing minds to share their thoughts on the marketing trends they think will define 2019 and re-shape how we approach the future. The Marketing 2019 & Beyond series is an opportunity to gain valuable insider knowledge from some of the industry’s most experienced and engaging thought leaders. Our expert panel will discuss future marketing trends across 5 key areas: Content Marketing, Creative Marketing, Digital Marketing, Customer Experience, Data Driven Marketing and Career Management.

Matthew Mulrine

Managing Director, Leaders Insight

Matthew has worked on a range of high-profile projects as both a public servant and external management consultant. He is an expert in strategy, communication, and change management. He led over a dozen audits of large organisations, ranging from the National Broadband Network through to the Attorney General’s Department (Federal). In communication, he oversaw multiple internal and external communication teams and headed-up a communication consulting firm to deliver work for local, national and multi-national clients. 

Russell Jackson

Business Manager, Canberra's National Zoo & Aquarium

Russell has been involved with the zoo for over 12 years and has played a crucial role in the development, marketing and operations of facilities. Russell currently manages, oversees and contributes to a large variety of areas across the National Zoo & Aquarium and Jamala Wildlife Lodge, including a focus on guest and visitor experience. These multi-award winning properties have received numerous TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence (5 stars) and are seen as a worldwide leader in guest experience in both the zoo and accommodation industries.

Tish Karunarathna

Client Engagement Director, Isobar

Tish is a problem solver with end-to-end experience across marketing, digital ecosystems, business design, product and service development. With decade of industry experience, including senior roles at Fairfax Media and award winning digital agency, Isobar, he is passionate about helping create, nurture and grow brands and businesses.

He’s worked across start-ups, enterprise and government with a focus on turning great ideas into meaningful brand experiences, powered by creativity and informed by data.

Tish leads curious, highly collaborative teams to help clients to craft human-centred experiences that transform and inspire action.

Eduardo Kranz

Design Director,FJORD

Eduardo focuses on Government and Health clients across Australia and the local ACT market at FJORD. His track record across enterprise service design projects, cross-channel experience delivery and multi-platform interface design, has enabled digital transformations to be constructed inclusively and pragmatically around a human-centred approach. Eduardo believes that human-centred design and service design approaches can fundamentally change the relationship between people and organisations and add a bit of magic to our daily life.

Mitch Flaherty

Strategy and Intelligence Manager, ManpowerGroup

Mitch has extensive experience in analysing, influencing and shaping the customer/user experience. He has over 10 years experience in a range of marketing, customer service and relationship management roles, which have allowed him to see first hand the strategies that drive customer engagement and create results. He has a keen mind for technology and as such has always strived to integrate tools into his role to gain a deeper understanding and to equip him with the knowledge to engage with the right person at the right time, with the right message.

Sarah Dunning

Director, 4sight Business Consulting

Sarah has spent the last 20 years delivering results through end-to-end solutions across marketing strategy and operational requirements. Sarah has a strong understanding of the variables around B2B, B2G and B2C marketing, and has held senior positions at Commonwealth Bank and American Express. She is now the Director of 4sight, a consulting practice that focusses on working with businesses to drive growth, and is the NSW Chair of the Australian Marketing Institute.
