While it’s fun to make big, bold predictions, any marketer who’s lived through the last decade knows that forecasting marketing’s future is risky business. After all, just over 10 years ago Mark Zuckerberg was still fine-tuning Facebook in his Harvard dorm room. To summarize: none of us are perfect prognosticators. Truth is, a big part of our future will be defined by technologies and trends that aren’t even on our radar right now.
The Australian Marketing Institute has attracted some of Australia’s finest marketing minds to share their thoughts on the marketing trends they think will define 2019 and re-shape how we approach the future. Matthew has worked on a range of high-profile projects as both a public servant and external management consultant. He is an expert in strategy, communication, and change management. He led over a dozen audits of large organisations, ranging from the National Broadband Network through to the Attorney General’s Department (Federal). In communication, he oversaw multiple internal and external communication teams and headed-up a communication consulting firm to deliver work for local, national and multi-national clients.
Business Manager, Canberra's National Zoo & Aquarium
Russell has been involved with the zoo for over 12 years and has played a crucial role in the development, marketing and operations of facilities. Russell currently manages, oversees and contributes to a large variety of areas across the National Zoo & Aquarium and Jamala Wildlife Lodge, including a focus on guest and visitor experience. These multi-award winning properties have received numerous TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence (5 stars) and are seen as a worldwide leader in guest experience in both the zoo and accommodation industries.
Client Engagement Director, Isobar
Tish is a strategically focused digital professional with 8 years industry experience in senior roles at Fairfax Media, CTI Australia and currently, award-winning digital agency, Isobar. With end-to-end experience across marketing, digital ecosystems, product and service development, he has a strong background in delivering large-scale projects with digital at their core. Tish has also demonstrated an expertise in identifying opportunities to lead digital transformation through strategy, experience design and data intelligence, and driving the creation of digital platforms, omni-channel marketing campaigns and spatial experiences.
Eduardo focuses on Government and Health clients across Australia and the local ACT market at FJORD. His track record across enterprise service design projects, cross-channel experience delivery and multi-platform interface design, has enabled digital transformations to be constructed inclusively and pragmatically around a human-centred approach. Eduardo believes that human-centred design and service design approaches can fundamentally change the relationship between people and organisations and add a bit of magic to our daily life.
Strategy and Intelligence Manager, ManpowerGroup
Mitch has extensive experience in analysing, influencing and shaping the customer/user experience. He has over 10 years experience in a range of marketing, customer service and relationship management roles, which have allowed him to see first hand the strategies that drive customer engagement and create results. He has a keen mind for technology and as such has always strived to integrate tools into his role to gain a deeper understanding and to equip him with the knowledge to engage with the right person at the right time, with the right message.

Jo has over 25 years experience in communications, corporate and political advisory roles, and journalism. She is the Founder and Managing Director of Australia’s leading for-purpose communications and engagement agency for NGOs, peak bodies, social enterprises, industry associations, not-for-profits and government agencies and departments. Jo is also the co-author of The Working Mother's Survival Guide and won the 2017 B&T Women in Media Public Relations Award. She is also a finalist for the 2018 Mumbrella PR Leader of the Year award.
