Transport World, 491 Tay Street Hawthorndale Invercargill New Zealand 9810

WELCOME

Kia ora and Welcome,

On behalf of the organising committee I would like to welcome you to the NZ retreat which is being held in Invercargill this year.

Overall it will be an informal meeting reflecting the experience of small town New Zealand. There is an interesting program of speakers (see program) from Invercargill and Dunedin along with presentations from within our membership and plenty of time for networking with old and new colleagues. The College is running a supervisor workshop (“workshop 3”) on Friday afternoon and concurrently the advance trainees will be having their own session with some SMOs, who have completed their training in the last few years, sharing their pearls of wisdom.

The venue is the relatively new Transport World which houses an impressive collection of beautifully maintained vintage trucks (and other attractions) displayed in a creative way. Glimpses of the vehicles can be seen from the break-out area and welcome reception and you can take a guided or self-guided tour. For those who have always wanted to drive a digger you can book to play in their sandpit “The Big Dig”.

The Welcome Reception is on Thursday night at Transport World and then the dinner on Friday night is at Oyster Cove Restaurant in Bluff with magnificent views over Foveaux Strait. Transport will be provided from Invercargill with a stop at the Bluff Hill Lookout with views to Rakiura/Stewart Island.

The meeting finishes on Saturday at lunchtime allowing you to take the opportunity to explore more of beautiful Southland if you wish.

I look forward to seeing you in Invercargill.
