Developing Twenty First Century Skills with Associate Professor Melanie Williams
The 2019 VDC Thought Leadership Seminar is a free event that will be hosted at the VDC Training Facilities in Melbourne on Thursday 31 October 2019 followed by an opportunity to network at morning tea.
Twenty first century skills are associated with the higher order skills and behaviours that represent the ability to cope with the complex problems and unpredictable situations that will increasingly feature in contemporary and future workplaces.
This two-part presentation reports on the findings from a VET Practitioner Fellowship researching international approaches to developing these skills in both students and teachers. The first model from the Spanish Basque Country involves a holistic, challenge-based approach to learning that is specifically designed to foster students’ twenty first century skills. The second model from Otago Polytechnic, New Zealand represents a possible method for building the capability of VET teachers to appropriately develop and assess these higher order skills.
Audience: These sessions are for educational staff.
Cost: All VDC Thought Leadership Seminars are FREE.
