In June 2019 the University of Waikato is hosting the Native American Indigenous Studies Association Annual Conference. This event is planned for June 20 -23rd 2019 and will provide an opportunity for networking for Māori and Indigenous Doctoral scholars and create a safe space for the presentation of PhD research projects.

The academic staff leading the event development are Associate Professor Leonie Pihama, Professor Linda Tuhiwai Smith, Dr Naomi Simmonds and Dr Hinekura Smith. The event is also supported by the other MAI site coordinators across Aotearoa.
