Older People and Mental Health

How can we improve care delivery?

Older people are more likely to experience contributing factors to depression such as physical illness or personal loss. Appropriate diagnoses and treatment of mental health disorders are recommended, with tailoring of programs to address their needs.

This session will address this important and growing area of mental health care, with a focus on multidisciplinary service delivery and integration.

A highly interactive session with

Dr Troye Wallett, GP with expertise in working with older people.

Dr Troye Wallett’s mind is multifaceted, vital to managing the varied aspects of business, patient care, personal growth and family life. It is how he keeps his balance.

He works as an Aged Care General Practitioner (GP) and Consultant in Adelaide, Australia. In 2013, he co-founded GenWise, a purpose-driven, mobile medical practice which supports health professionals working in Aged Care Facilities. GenWise won the 2017 Telstra Australian Business of the Year award.

Troye is compelled to learn and teach, and so he does. He is a mentor for the Adelaide Founders Institute, a Senior Clinical Lecturer at Adelaide University and a GP trainee supervisor. He talks at conferences around Australia where he delivers keynotes on World View and Change Making or teaches on clinical topics such as Behaviours in Dementia, Polypharmacy and Making Aged Care Work Easy .
