Lifting Learning - The 2018 Online Festival  for  P-2 Educators

Various session times - All sessions available live or via recordings.   Recordings will be available for six months after the live session.    Schools purchasing a whole school access pass can have an unlimited number of staff viewing sessions either live or as recordings from an unlimited number of devices over a six month period.

* Only one registration is required per school to enable access to all sessions for your whole staff.   The full program with session links and passwords will be forwarded to participants in the week prior to the festival.   Please note that cancellations will not be accepted after these links and passwords have been provided.
 

Festival Overview

The Contemporary Learning Hub is proud to open registrations for our 2017 Online Festival for Early Phase Educators. The theme for this year is Lifting Learning and we have an awesome program jam-packed with sessions that will provide you with the inspiration you need to engage, support and challenge your P-2 learners.  The 2018 Online Festival features over 12 hours of high quality live and on demand PD sessions that will be offered over a three week period.  Participants can join in the live sessions or view the recordings whenever they choose over a six month period. 
 

Festival Highlights

  • The Marriage of Words and Pictures and the Picture Books and Inspiring Kids to Write sessions with highly acclaimed author Peter Carnavas. Discover strategies for making picture books powerful springboards for Early Years reading comprehension and writing activities.
  • The Wonder-Filled Curriculum session with Head of Curriculum Julie Elder. This session will explore how to embed the inquiry approach and PBL into lessons, tasks and units across the curriculum.
  • The Big Challenges for Little Minds numeracy session with Peter Carmichael, Head of Department for Regional Support (Numeracy) in the North Coast Region.
  • Understanding Age-Appropriate Pedagogies session with Early Years Coach Suzy Wilson. Suzy will unpack the age-appropriate pedagogies teachers should be using in the Early Years and will also share ideas and strategies from AAP classrooms.
  • The Beginning with Play presentation by Meridan’s P-1 Deputy Principal Charmaine Cowling. Charmaine will provide an overview of the highly effective Pre-Prep programs implemented by the College and will also share how our unique play based Prep enrolment process works.
  • The Understanding ASD in the Early Years session with Mandy Burns, Head of Special Education – Meridan State College. Mandy will support teachers to develop their understanding of the challenges ASD students face in classroom contexts and how we can effectively support and enable them.
  • Festival Challenges and Random Prize Giveaways that will enable winners to have access to some great new digital technologies and STEM gear to use and keep in their own P-2 learning context.

* This festival will be delivered via Education Queensland's web conferencing platform iConnect.     We will offer test sessions in the week prior to the festival to enable participants to come online and ensure they are able to access sessions and feel confident within the web conferencing environment.   Please note that cancellations for this event will not be accepted after passwords have been provided to the web conference sessions.
