Online Session - Skills First: Language, Literacy & Numeracy

12th Jun 2020 - 12th Oct 2020
12:30 PM - 01:30 PM
Online via BlackBoard Collaborate

Through the VET Development Centre (VDC), the current professional learning program is being adapted in response to COVID-19. We aim to meet your needs whilst ensuring our staff, presenters, the community and all those who interact with us are kept as safe as possible.

The Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) is providing free online professional learning to teachers (trainers and assessors) and other staff directly involved in the design and/or review of course content and assessments at Skills First  providers. This 1-hour webinar has been designed to encourage good practice for language, literacy and numeracy assessment.

Description

The Department of Education and Training has released a new fact sheet that provides guidance to RTOs on the requirements in the VET Funding Contract for the assessment of LLN skills as part of the Pre-Training Review. This online session will clarify the requirements and take a look at what good practice LLN assessment looks like for candidates with varying LLN skill levels.

The session will also introduce participants to the new Digital Literacy Skills framework (developed with Foundation Skills for Your Future Program), that sits as an extra skill to the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) and can be used to assess a candidate’s Digital Literacy skills as part of the Pre-Training Review.

*Please note - this online session is a virtual workshop and there will be no recording of the session.
