About the workshop

This full-day workshop is offered to school-based personnel working directly with students either diagnosed with or presenting with a profile consistent with the diagnostic criteria for a Specific Learning Disorder – impairment in reading (dyslexia). Participants MUST have attended the first workshop on ‘Identifying and Supporting Students with a Specific Learning Disorder in Reading’ in order to attend this workshop. 

Aims of the workshop

This workshop is designed to be responsive to the individual learning profiles of students identified as presenting with a significant word-level reading disorder, and will support school teams to identify instructional targets and supporting strategies. Participants will need to bring a range of data and information gathered on their selected student. This information will be analysed using a linguistic framework to identify instructional targets and inform supports at the intensive, focused and differentiated levels. School teams will have time during the day to collaboratively develop a plan of support for the student/s from their school.

Who should attend?

Registrants may include class teachers, speech-language pathologists, support teachers - literacy and numeracy, guidance officers and other literacy personnel who are directly involved in the selected student’s reading instruction. Participants are encouraged to attend with other members of their school team. 




Cancellation Policy

Schools / work locations are able to send another staff member in the place of a registered participant. Please advise us if there is a change. Cancellations for this event will incur a 50% cancellation fee if within two weeks of the workshop. A 75% cancellation fee is applicable if the cancellation is within 48 hours of the event. Cancellations need to be made via our Hub Logistics Officer Bronwen Stewart on 5490 2755.
