The Courses:
The courses are comprised of 2 x 3-hour virtual workshops (designed so that you complete both Program A and Program B). When you register online for a course, you are automatically registered for both Program A and B. You can enrol for a course under 'Register Here'.
These online sessions will be run in a small group, with break out rooms for group discussion and ample opportunity to converse with group members and the facilitator to collaborate, share ideas and insights.
These virtual workshops will also include access to an e-book learning resource for those who attend.
Description
The Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) has funded the VET Development Centre (VDC) to develop and deliver specific professional learning for teachers, trainers and assessors intending to deliver a new course on the Prevention of Family Violence and the Prevention of Violence Against Women (PVAW). It is anticipated that Skills First providers will begin offering this course in Semester 1, 2022. This Program is part of a suite of quality initiatives under Victorian Government’s Building from Strength, the 10 Year Industry Plan for Family Violence Prevention and Response.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this training participants will be able to:

Define family violence, violence against women and gender equity, cite relevant Australian statistics in each of these areas and articulate the impact of intersectionality.

Articulate the drivers of violence against women, describe how they play out in workplaces and effectively navigate robust discussion of these.

Identify and respond to myths and attitudes that support violence against women.

Draw on a rich body of evidence and resources to demonstrate how PVAW can be carried out in workplaces with consideration of intersectionality.

Demonstrate effective bystander action to prevent violence against women and provide tools and tips for promoting bystander action in workplaces.

Introductory (New to the topic):
Professional learning aimed at practitioners that have a broad theoretical knowledge and practical experience of training and assessment.
Audience
These sessions are for teachers, trainers and assessors interested in delivering Prevention of Family Violence courses, from Training Providers of Accredited Training with a Skills First contract (extended to 2021).
