The Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) has funded the VET Development Centre (VDC) to develop and deliver specific professional learning for Vocational Education and Training (VET) managers, teachers, trainers and assessors.

The focus of these community of practice opportunities is exploring the challenges and achievements of delivering gendered family violence training. 

*Please note - there will be no recording of the session.

Audience

These sessions are suited for VET teachers, trainers and educators, frontline managers and senior managers of:

  • Victorian TAFE providers
  • Learn Local providers and
  • ACFE funded providers.

Level

Suitable for all levels.

Topics Covered

  • Reflection discussions exploring the complexity of how to apply professional knowledge and skills in working directly with men using family violence
  • Reflection discussions unpacking the associated triggers for students and staff
  • Reflection discussion on managing reactivity and feedback resilience.

Learning Outcomes

  • Confidential environment that allows for enriching discussions about a complex topic that impacts on both students and trainers.

Facilitator

Tori Cooke is a Senior Social Work Practitioner currently working as the Head of Workforce Development at No To Violence in Victoria. Tori has presented at a range of national and international conferences and strongly focuses on clinical practice in working with men using violence and abuse in their families. She is a well known specialist trainer in the field of family violence in Australia and has delivered training and advice to police, child protection, magistrate’s court and the family law environment. A seasoned court expert, Tori has a professional background in working with victim survivors in trauma therapy as well as assessing and facilitating men’s behaviour change programs.
