  • Kodu - Introduction with Craig Johnson

    Kodu in the Classroom by Craig Johnson (both Introductory and Intermediate sessions for 3-4 and 5-6 and Junior secondary teachers)

    Year 5/6 teacher Craig Johnson from Yandina State School will present on his experience in the classroom using Kodu. Emphasis will be on pedagogy as well as practical implementation issues. Introductory and Intermediate sessions will be offered.

  • Coding and iPads P-2 with Bob Rodgers

    Coding and iPads P-2

    In this session participants will explore the “Blue-Bot” App to introduce sequencing and point of view and then build on this to create a simple story in the “ScratchJr” App.

    Both Apps are free for those bringing their own iPads. There will be some iPads available for borrowing if needed.

    In this session participants will explore the “Lego Mindstorms Fix the Factory” App to reinforce sequencing and point of view and then use the “Tynker” App to create a simple puzzle game.

    Both Apps are free for those bringing their own iPads. There will be some iPads available for borrowing if needed.

  • Lego WeDo by Craig Johnson

    Lego WeDo by Craig Johnson - Suitable for 3-4 and even extended into 5-6 

    Lego WeDo is a simple easy to use resource that can be used to introduce younger students to robotics/coding.  Students build Lego models (comes with a number of preloaded models) that features working motors and sensors.  They then program their models to carry out simple commands.  Teachers can brainstorm where they could use this resource within their own classroom teaching.
