VET NDIS Professional Development Program 2018/19

VET NDIS Community of Practice

The Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) has funded the VET Development Centre (VDC) to develop and deliver specific professional learning for Vocational Education and Training (VET) teachers, trainers and assessors delivering National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) qualifications. This training is part of a suite of quality initiatives under Victorian Government’s Keeping our Sector Strong: Victoria’s Workforce Plan for the rollout of the NDIS.

VDC is working with National Disability Services (NDS) to develop this program.

NDIS Community of Practice - Network Meetings

The network is the formative stage before forming a Community of Practice. The network meetings will include two elements, four face-to-face network meetings and a VDC online platform for collaboration and sharing. The network meetings are designed to:

  • Build the understanding of industry and stakeholder perspective on disability services
  • Facilitate the sharing of good teaching practice and resources, including working with people with disability;
  • Provide a source of peer support for trainers and assessors;
  • Provide an online platform to share challenges, strategies, resources and teaching practices which is accessible by regional trainers; and
  • Input into review of relevant qualifications.

The format of the network meetings will be discussion following a presentation (20 – 40 minutes) driven by attendees, reflect the theme of the meeting and issues raised by the presentation. Proposed themes for discussion include:

  • Person Centred Support
  • Communications
  • What workforce changes are participants driving?

Who can attend?

This community of practice network is for Victorian VET trainers and assessors delivering NDIS related qualifications (Certificate III in Individual Support; Certificate IV in Disability; Certificate IV in Mental Health; Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work; Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance and Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance).
