Workshop: Address Non-Compliance in Assessments

30th Oct 2019
09:00 AM - 12:00 PM
VET Development Centre, Level 8 379 Collins Street Melbourne Victoria Australia 3000

QUALITY, COMPLIANCE AND AUDITING

Description:

Poor quality assessment is probably the primary compliance issue facing RTOs. This workshop is designed to clarify how assessment tools can be improved.

Find out how to make your assessment tools stronger and complete a formal assessment validation session.

In this hands-on session you will learn the essentials of validation and then conduct a validation of one of your assessment tools. This in-depth validation includes the instructions to assessors and candidates and assessors, all tasks and mapping if you have it, against the unit of competency it assesses.

At the end of the session, you will have evidence that you are effectively validating your assessment tools, and have the skills to validate further tools within your workplace.

Category:

Introductory (New to the topic):
These sessions are aimed at practitioners that have a broad theoretical knowledge and practical experience of training and assessment. They operate independently and seek guidance when necessary.

Audience:

These sessions are for Assessors and assessment designers

Topics Covered

  • Designing strong assessment tools that work
  • Formulating assessment tasks
  • Identifying typical gaps in assessment tools
  • Identifying steps to address quality issues
  • Identify how to improve assessment tools
  • Validation of your assessment tools with an auditor

Learning Outcomes

  • An overview of the quality issues relating to assessment
  • An understanding of where assessment tools are working and what needs to be improved
  • Undertaking a formal assessment validation session with an auditor

To Bring: It is essential that you bring along an assessment tool (instructions to assessors and candidates and assessors, all tasks and mapping if you have it) and the unit of competency it assesses.
