Learn Local providers Access, Choice & Equity Series

VET Development Centre, Level 8 379 Collins Street Melbourne Victoria Australia 3000

Through the VET Development Centre (VDC), the Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) aims to improve the capability and capacity of the pre-accredited VET sector by making a range of professional learning opportunities available to Learn Local providers.

The VDC has developed a series of four one-day workshops that will enable Learn Local providers to focus on outreach and engagement, learner support and wellbeing, teaching and learning and pathways for disadvantaged learners.

The professional learning opportunities reflect the goal of the Pre-accredited Quality Framework to ensure that quality and continuous improvement are embedded throughout all aspects of pre-accredited planning, program design and delivery, including improved learner pathways.

Workshops will cover:

Workshop 1 - Outreach and engagement will include strategies on developing and implementing effective learner and community engagement.

Workshop 2 – Learner support and wellbeing will include ways of supporting learners who suffer from trauma and social challenges so they can continue to participate in education and training.

Workshop 3 – Teaching and learning will focus on inclusive practices and a learner centred approach. In addition, aspects of how to design pre-accredited programs and co-design pre-accredited training programs with industry and welfare agencies.

Workshop 4 – Pathways will focus on developing effective pathways and transition plans for learners through partnerships with TAFEs, other training providers, industry and community organisations.

Participants are encouraged to attend all four workshops or alternatively individual workshops, according to their requirements.
