Learn Local providers Professional Leadership Series

The Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) has provided funding for the VET Development Centre (VDC) to develop and deliver a professional leadership series for members of committee of management, executive and leadership team members of Learn Local providers registered with the ACFE board.

The workshops will focus on delivering workforce development training to improve the knowledge, skills and practice of leaders and managers working within Learn Local providers.


Workshop 1 - Governance, funding and reporting

This workshop will focus on enhancing the understanding of governance by boards and senior leadership in Learn Local providers of all sizes. It will reinforce knowledge of Government funding, importance of effective financial management, reporting processes and data collection that underpins organisational performance and the vigour of the organisation.

Topics covered include:

  • Understand the VET landscape
  • Knowledge of governance and reporting requirements
  • Effective financial management and reporting
  • Knowledge of Government funding and reporting processes
  • Ability to collect data and report learner outcomes

Facilitator:

Kevin Ekendahl specialises in quality auditing, assurance and regulatory compliance for the training and education sector in Australia. Having built and managed a registered training organisation, Kevin understands the importance of ensuring there is the right balance between growth and compliance.


Workshop 2 – Leadership and organisational development
This workshop will focus on building positive organisational culture and effective management strategies, that impact on improved activities, capacity building, productivity to meet organisational objectives and educational outcomes.

Topics covered include:

  • Build positive organisational culture
  • Ability to drive organisational performance
  • Bring out the best in others and empowering the staff
  • Effective management of the organisation and its resources
  • Organisational capacity building
  • Understanding community needs and how to respond
  • Reaching priority learners
  • Ability to develop partnerships to deliver educational outcomes
  • Measure and monitor impact on productivity

Category:

Introductory (New to the topic): These sessions are aimed at practitioners that have a broad theoretical knowledge and practical experience of training and assessment. They operate independently and seek guidance when necessary.

Audience:

The audience is for leaders and managers from Learn Local providers registered with the ACFE Board. Participants are encouraged to attend both workshops according to their requirements.
