The Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) has funded the VET Development Centre (VDC) to develop and deliver specific professional learning for Vocational Education and Training (VET) teachers, trainers and assessors. This training is part of a suite of quality initiatives under Victorian Government’s Building from Strength, the 10 Year Industry Plan for Family Violence Prevention and Response.

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) Foundational Course
NVC aims to enhance skills for compassionate, clear communication and active listening to improve professional and personal relationships. This 2 day workshop provides an overview of the time-proven worldwide process of Nonviolent Communication – applicable to home or work.

Areas of focus:

The session will cover:

  • Create exceptional personal and professional relationships
  • Ask for compassionate understanding for ourselves
  • Hear behind the way something is being said to hear what is really meant
  • Prevent and resolve misunderstandings and conflict
  • Speak up with authenticity, in a way that leads to harmony
  • Create willingness without coercion
  • Transform my critical inner dialogue about myself and others

Cost:

Free to Skills First contracted training providers and ACFE funded providers.

Audience:

The workshops are only for VET teachers, trainers and assessors of Training Providers of Accredited Training with a Skills First contract and Learn Local providers delivering or interested in delivering ‘Identifying and Responding to Family Violence Risk’. You can check your eligibility here.

All workshops for this program will be held at the VET Development Centre, Level 8, 379 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000.

Facilitator:

Shari Elle is an experienced communications trainer, whose aim is to share how the creative opportunity in every challenge we face, lies in the quality of how we speak and hear each other - in the ability to identify what is authentically and vitally important and to see through each other's eyes. She was one of the founders of Nonviolent Communication in Australia and works with organisations, communities, government and individuals. Shari is certified as a trainer with the Centre for Nonviolent Communication and is a lifelong student of how to create the world we want to live in through the way we communicate and connect.
