Workshop: Establish & Manage Practical Work Placements

3rd Mar 2020
09:00 AM - 12:00 PM
VET Development Centre, Level 8 379 Collins Street Melbourne Victoria Australia 3000

Description

Learning through practical placements in workplaces is a VET strength. It aligns with VET’s emphasis on learning by doing as a hallmark of best practice instructional design and teaching.

The challenge with practical placements is to ensure they provide educationally meaningful experiences for students as well as meeting the minimum requirements which are set out in the Practical Placement Guidelines. These guidelines are to assist Registered Training Organisations (RTO) and employers to meet their obligations with respect to arranging practical placement for students.

This half day workshop assists RTO staff to organise and monitor practical placements so that students maximise learning opportunities and outcomes. The workshop also provides guidance to RTOs about the characteristics of compliant practical placements.
