Ainslie lives in beautiful Albany, Western Austrlia. Her life is full of activity and fun, raising her 4 amazings daughters and working as WETS Aqua Instructor, dance teacher and fitness instructor. Ainslie has a particular passion for delivering programs to children, seniors and those living with an intellectual disability.She currently teaches aqua programs at Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre (ALAC), as well as running her own business providing dance and fitness classess for school PE programs and community groups. Ainslie finds providing aqua programs exciting and fulfilling because the aqua environment has so many possibilities and can be beneficial to any age, ability and mobility level. She is constantly inspired by her participants' detemination and commitment to keep moving regardless of age or circumstances. Every week it thrills Ainslie to see the physical, mental and social benefits that the aqua programs provide. Aqua is for EVERY BODY!

Alina has been working the aquatic industry for over 20 years. Her experience has crossed all areas of aquatics from babies to adults, beginners to elite, swimming to lifesaving. Alina openly shares her experience and knowledge from working in the industry that is coupled with her learning and research through her tertiary degrees in Education and Health Science to benefit the wider national and international aquatic community. Alina's mission is "To enrich the lives of all through participation and enjoyment of aquatic programs".

Position: AUSTSWIM Presenter / WestSwim Coordinator

Andrea has been involved in the Aquatics Industry for 19 years with a particular focus on Learn to Swim programs. Andrea brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as she has been an AUSTSWIM Presenter since 2012 and continues to expand her skill set. 

Andrea believes in sharing her knowledge and experiences with candidates during AUSTSWIM course. She believes in providing a high quality of learn to swim tuition for all children in Western Australia. "As a mother of 3 year old and 6 year old, I am more than aware of the need to have my children confident and safe in and around all aquatic environments"


Position: AUSTSWIM WETS Master Trainer

Christine regularly presents the AUSTSWIM WETS Aqua Instructor Course across Australia and New Zealand and works behind the scenes in course development. She is a popular group fitness instructor, teaching various classes and using her background in drama and education to keep participants interested and on their toes!


David Buttifant is passionate about helping others setting new benchmarks and driving their performance. He has conducted and facilitated multiple programs for companies on Resilience, High Performance, Team Building, Wellbeing and Culture. His principles and values have supported him throughout his professional and personal journey and continues to assist others to unlock their potential.

Emily comes from a background of extensive experience in the sport and recreation industry and in particular aquatics. Emily has been a qualified AUSTSWIM teacher for over 5 years and prior to this was a national competitive swimmer. Emily has worked with a variety of communities and groups and has been directly involved in delivering CaLD and Indigenous programming across Western Australia. With a passion for community development and inclusion, Emily works as the Inclusion Coordinator for the Access and Equity Program at Royal Life Saving Society WA, working with at-risk communities to break down the barriers in swimming and water safety education

Fiona has been teaching and coaching swimming for 30 years. She has been involved with the development and presentation of courses all over Australia. Fiona has managed a program at Perth College & Mount Lawley that range from learn to swim through to elite swimming. She has a passion and love of the water and coaching/teaching.

Position: AUSTSWIM Presenter

Lyn has more than 30 years experience in the aquatic arena as a teacher, swim school owner, presenter and auditor.

She is also experienced in the area of teaching children and adults with special needs. In fact, she was a recipient of an Australian award for just that.

Lyn is capable, experienced and her qualifications are many. With a passion for all things concerning swimming and water safety, Lyn eats breathes and lives her passion. These things even eclipse her passion for coffee and chocolate.

Lyn will encourage, enthuse and energise you to expand your knowledge to become even better teachers.

Michelle Young – National Aquatic Manager

As Belgravia Leisure’s National Aquatic Manager Michelle oversees more than 60 Aquatic Centres across Australia and New Zealand. She has extensive industry experience including managing transitions, large group areas and Leisure and Aquatic Facilities.

Michelle’s knowledge, skill and understanding of financial planning and performance, operations and leadership is outstanding. Along with this her attention to detail and strong communication background provides operational excellence.

As a highly skilled, experienced and well-rounded senior manager, Michelle thrives on challenges and providing support to her staff.

Organisation: Edith Cowan University

As a swimmer and educator Professor Penney is passionate about the learning that can happen in aquatic environments and is very aware that it takes quality teaching and teachers to enable and support quality learning.  Professor Penney's background is in research in Health and Physical Education curriculum, pedagogy and assessment and is currently leading a national research project with AUSTSWIM that is exploring ways in which quality can be enhanced in the training and assessment for Presenters. 

Professor Penney is currently on her own journey towards being a licensed AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety.

Roseanne is a Registered Exercise Professional with more than twenty years’ experience in the Fitness Industry, instructing Aqua Aerobics since the year 2000. Roseanne has worked for several Fitness and Aquatic Centre’s North of Perth and am currently employed part time at City of Swan’s Swan Park as a Gym Instructor, Personal Trainer and Aqua Instructor. Roseanne is also employed at Belmont Oasis Leisure Centre and the City of Stirling Terry Tyzack as a group Fitness/Aqua Instructor. And when Roseanne is not working,  she is a mother of two teenage children.

A former Physical Education specialist from Keele University, Simon was a Social Science Research Council Scholar, and studied at North London University where he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Recreation Management. In addition to this, he is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and Fellow of the Advanced Management Program, Harvard University AMP179.

Simon has managed facilities in both the United Kingdom and Australia. He also lectured for three (3) years at Deakin University (Burwood Campus - Melbourne) in the Sports Management Graduate and Undergraduate courses.

He was formerly the Chief Executive Officer of the State Sport Centres Trust comprising the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) and Melbourne Institute of Training (MIT in Albert Park, Lakeside Stadium as well as the State Netball Hockey Centre (SNHC) at Royal Park.

He is currently the Managing Director for Worldwide Sports Management which is a boutique management company specialising in people, infrastructure, and technology.

He has consulted to the following clients:

Samsonite, YMCA Victoria, City of Casey, City of Cleveland, Quay Clean, City of Glen Eira, and Christchurch City Council, South Australian Aquatic Centre.

He currently mentors a number of mentees on leadership and self-development.

In addition to his extensive management experience, Simon has had the opportunity to develop three (3) major ‘Greenfield site’ sporting facilities in Melbourne. These include the Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre project valued at $10M, the MSAC project valued at $65M, the SNHC project valued at $27M and the MSAC Redevelopment valued at $56M, and the establishment of the Melbourne School of Sport and Recreation Management.

The creative Director of Australasia, Tanja has been an active Educator and Mentor for over 20 years. She has delivered education throughout Australia, Latin America and Asian resorts / health retreats.

Ms. Luck has contributed as a recognised Industry Consultant, Mentor, Author, Trainer, Presenter and Asian Spa resort Staff Trainer. She served 7 years on the State Management committee (Fitness W.A) supporting Practitioners and the State Industry Conference, WAFIC as well as presenting nationally at FILEX. Recently she was invited to educate at the International Water Therapy Conference in Costa Rica and in 2019 Congress in Mexico & Brazil.

Tanja has served as a consultant Assessor specializing in Aquatic exercise, Yoga and Pilates. In addition she has been published in Health magazines, generating over 20 aquatic educational workshops for special populations, Aquatic Centre’s, Tertiary Institutions and UWA recreational programming. She also served as the key Ambassador/Trainer for the European Company Okeo for 7 years growing programs such as water bike, water kick box, Deep water training, Aqua for kids, Aqua for pregnancy and Aqua Step.
