Welcome to the website of the Kempsey Powerhouse Motel. Positioned on the Pacific Highway 4 ½ klms south of the township of Kempsey diagonally across the road from the new Slim Dusty Centre which is due for completion soon. Kempsey is often referred to as the perfect halfway stop between Sydney and Brisbane. Your hosts, Tracy and Martin are country folk. They understand and deliver country hospitality at every opportunity to ensure your stay is enjoyable. They provide clean, affordable and very comfortable accommodation.
Situated in the magnificent Macleay Valley, and only a short distance from pristine beaches at Crescent Head, Hat Head and South West Rocks. Beautiful scenic drives including visits to local vineyards and Nulla Creek, a pleasant drive to the boyhood property of Slim Dusty – country music legend, and onto the pub with no beer. It's set back from the highway on 5 acres of manicured bushland. Take a relaxing walk around the property and enjoy the peacefulness amongst the trees with the native birds above, resident kangaroos, possums and goannas. Tracy also boasts a lovely collection of poultry. Featuring the rare breed, “Orpington”, a large soft feathered fowl that are located at the far back left of the property.
All units have parking at the door. All are air-conditioned, have tea and coffee making facilities, a toaster, a refrigerator, clock radio, hairdryer, iron, ironing board and spare bedding. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, biccies, milk and some toiletries are provided in each room. Free wifi internet, and Austar TV are available in room. Free DVD’s are available from reception. All the units are recognised as “non-smoking” areas however there are facilities outside the rooms for the convenience of smokers.
The Lantern Inn Restaurant is fully licensed and is open Mon to Sat from 6pm. The restaurant itself, located near Reception is comfortable and refurbished. The chef expertly and confidently serves a varied selection of tasty, wholesome home cooked a’la carte entre’s, light meals and mains. Children are also catered for and all meals are affordable. Wheelchair access is available. When booking you may be asked if you think you might need a meal and a table can be reserved for you. All food is prepared fresh daily by the chef. Special functions can be catered for in both a’ la carte and buffet style. By day the Restaurant is often transformed easily into a conference room and can comfortably seat 20 -25 people. Again the chef can produce the nicest of tasty gourmet morning teas and lunches. Most of the necessary items including a large magnetic whiteboard etc are available.
The licensed Bar and Dance floor are also located near reception and offers a wide variety of Juices, Soft Drinks, Beers and Wines. Cassegrain, Wolf Blass, Yarran and Jacobs Creek are some of the most popular wines, all at affordable by the glass or bottle price. The Dance Floor is located in the centre of the Restaurant. After all these years it still lights up underneath at the flick of a switch and is used regularly.
