With two distinct spaces – an alfresco Beer Garden and recently revamped ‘upper deck’ that now boasts a stylish yacht club interior – Helm Bar & Bistro can offer a versatile space that can be set for intimate long lunches or large 300 plus groups.

In addition to the impressive setting, Helm Bar delivers an exceptional standard of service throughout the event process. Meet our experienced team of staff and management, whose job is to ensure that you have the best experience possible. We pride ourselves on being able to tailor packages to suit individual needs and desires: we know that no two parties are ever the same!

We have put together this package to guide you through what we have on offer. Should you require any further assistance, or would just like to speak to one of our friendly staff members about how Helm Bar & Bistro might be right for your next event. We can cater for functions from 15 – 400 people. Areas can be reserved either upstairs or downstairs. The Lower Deck can be booked exclusively for functions up to 150 people. We also offer exclusive venue hire. Reservations will usually require a deposit. All food and beverage packages must be paid for and confirmed prior to the function.

We are an open plan bar and bistro with an extremely versatile furniture layout. We use bollards to rope off an area of the venue for functions that will be reserved exclusively for your group.
Yes we can cater to most dietary requirements. Please inform our functions manager of any dietary requirements in your group. We are unable to guarantee our dishes are free from traces of gluten, nuts, oils or shellfish.
We allow decorations as long as they are tasteful and do not cause any damage to the venue interior. Approval must be granted by the function manager prior to your event. No candles are allowed. You may bring your own cake for your event for which we charge $20 cakeage per cake. This fee includes storing and serving with plates and napkins. We have a range of delicious cakes to choose from if you would like us to organise one for your event.
Our upper deck is weather proof with a retractable ceiling, fans and heaters for all seasons. Our lower deck has large umbrellas for shelter with inbuilt heaters but does not have a roof. If you book a function in the lower deck and it rains, we will endeavour to relocate you to the upper deck, but this cannot always be guaranteed.
Yes we have an elevator which is located on the ground level in the corridor down the centre of the building. Please call the venue or have someone from your group walk up the stairs and notify a member of staff to come and assist you with the elevator.
All functions are allocated a 4 hour time slot. If you would like the area for longer please put your request in writing to our functions manager.
Well that depends on many factors! We are extremely versatile with our function spaces and packages and understand that no two functions are the same. Our functions team will work with you to create a tailor made package for your specific requests to ensure you have the most fantastic, memorable event.
Yes, as long as they are accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

Our dress code is smart casual every day from 6pm.
We have a smoking area towards the rear of the lower deck beer garden apart from when the venue is fully booked when guests who wish to smoke must do so outside the front of the venue.
Yes we have 5 so we would advise that you mention when booking if you require one.
No our venue is fully licensed.
Absolutely! You may purchase over the phone and we can mail it out to you or you can purchase one in the venue by asking a manager.
