Where will the conference be held?

The Capsis Astoria Heraklion hotel, in the town of Heraklion, Crete, Greece.

What is included in my Course registration fee?

Course Registration Includes:

  • Attendance at all course sessions
  • Course handbook
  • All coffee breaks
  • Lunch on conference days 
  • Welcome Reception
  • Conference Dinner
  • Three (3) nights accommodation including breakfast at the conference hotel (arrive 31st Oct., depart 3rd Nov.)
  • Various administrative costs


What is NOT included in the registration fee?

  • Any extra hotel nights outside 31st Oct -3rd Nov. 2016 that you may wish to book
  • Travel and transfers
  • Any items of a personal nature e.g. minibar, laundry
  • post conference touring


How do I register for the conference?

Registrations are accepted via the large "register" button on the right.

How do I become a Human Variome Project Member to receive the member's discount registration?

It is free to join the HVP.  You can apply for membership here.


What is the Earlybird Registration Deadline?

To save on registration fees, the Earlybird deadline is 31st August 2016.


When is the Abstract Closing Date?

Abstracts are to be submitted by email following the instructions on the Abstracts Page. The closing date for submissions is 15th August 2016.


What is the cut-off date to register for this Course?

Pre-registration is REQUIRED to secure your place. Those registering from 24th October 2016 onwards will pay a penalty of Euro 100. There are only a limited number of places available due to space contraints so secure your place by booking early.


I need to cancel, is there a cancellation policy?

Do I need to wear a name badge?

Your name badge is your entry to the Course. This is required for security reasons and your own safety.


Do I need personal insurance?

Delegates shall be regarded in every aspect as carrying their own risk for loss or injury to person or property, including baggage during the conference. We strongly recommend that at the time of booking your travel and tours you take out a travel insurance policy of your choice. The policy taken should include the loss of deposit through cancellation, medical insurance, loss or damage to personal property, financial loss incurred through disruptions to accommodation or travel arrangements due to strikes or other industrial action. The organisers are in no way responsible for any claims concerning insurance.


I am interested in post-conference touring of Crete. Who do I contact?

What is the dress code?

The weather is likely to be mild with an average of 26 degrees Celcius max for this time of year. We advise you bring casual clothing with a jacket for the evening as it may get windy on the coast. Dress for the Conference Dinner is casual. The meeting room is airconditioned so you may need a light sweater in case you feel cold.
