Caroline is the Deputy Director, MAPrc and Deputy Driector of the Women’s Mental Health Division at MAPrc, and Head of the “Hormones and Cognition Group".  Caroline combines neuropsychological assessments with eye movement research to clearly characterise cognition.  She has a particular interest in how hormones influence cognitive functioning in mental health and illness. 

Caroline has over 75 publications that have ultimately contributed to a better understanding of how biological factors influence symptoms and cognition in mental health and mental illness. She is the recipient of several awards, prizes and competitive grant funding, including NHMRC project grants, an NHMRC early career fellowship, Rebecca Cooper Foundation project grant as well as institutional and philanthropic funding. She is a dedicated supervisor to PhD candidates, honours students, neuropsychology registrars and medical student placements. Caroline has established ongoing biodatabanks to better understand biological mechanisms underpinning symptoms across a range of neuropsychiatric disorders.  

Dr Edna Lekgabe is a qualified adult psychiatrist with a special interest in perinatal and women’s mental health. In addition to her private practice, Dr Lekgabe holds a public consultant position with The Royal Women’s Hospital.

Dr Lekgabe holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Monash University and a Master of Psychiatry from the University of Melbourne. In addition to these degrees, she holds a PhD and Diploma of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She completed her specialist medical training through The Royal Melbourne Hospital, The Royal Children’s Hospital, The Royal Women’s Hospitals and Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital before being awarded her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.

Dr Karen Gwee is an adult psychiatrist with a special interest in eating disorders. She currently holds a public appointment at Austin Health, as the Clinical Lead Consultant in Eating Disorders and is the consultant psychiatrist at the Body Image and Eating Disorders Treatment and Recovery Service (BETRS). She consults privately at Epworth Camberwell and is on the Epworth Mental Health Medical Advisory Committee. Dr Gwee is an accredited supervisor of psychiatric registrars and is involved in medical student teaching. Dr Gwee completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and Master of Psychological Medicine at The University of Melbourne.  She obtained her Fellowship in adult psychiatry through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and completed a certificate in psychotherapy, specialising in cognitive behavioural therapy.

Dr Gwee provides care across the full spectrum of adult psychiatry with particularly interests in caring for those with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, women’s mental health and eating disorders. She has a biopsychosocial approach, incorporating pharmacological interventions, as well as psychotherapeutic interventions, such as cognitive behavioural therapy, eye movement desensitisation reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and schema therapy. She individualises the treatment of each patient according to their needs and is keen to involve patient supports.

Dr Lee is Director of the Women's and Children's Clinical Institute, Epworth HealthCare and Chair of Obstetrics, Epworth Freemasons.

Her interests are high risk obstetrics, laparoscopic surgery, general gynaecology including colposcopy and menstrual disorders, menopause.

Jayashri Kulkarni commenced her appointment as Professor of Psychiatry, The Alfred and Monash University in 2002. She founded and directs the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre (MAPrc): a large group - dedicated to discovering new treatments, new understanding and new services for people with a range of mental illnesses.

Jayashri Kulkarni graduated in Medicine from Monash University in 1981 and became a Fellow of the College of Psychiatrists in 1989. She has conducted ground-breaking clinical research since then and is internationally acknowledged as a leader in the field of Women’s Mental Health, in particular for her innovative work on reproductive hormones and mental illness. In 2021, in addition to her ongoing academic role, she founded and directs Australia's first Women's Mental Health Hospital.

Jayashri received an Order of Australia (AM) in 2019 for her services to Psychiatry.
