Medical Advanced Life Support

Duration: 3 hours

This 3.0 hour workshop is for Epworth Medical staff who have previously had experience with Adult Advanced Life Support and wish to update their training, confidence and competencies. Instructors are accredited ALS instructors, and the course has CPD accreditation with ANZCA, CICM and ACEM. The workshop covers team leadership, role allocation and communication skills, and a simulation-based practical component according to the ARC ALS guidelines. The course is conducted in a safe, non-threatening environment by simulation educators and ALS instructors.


Prior to attending the workshop, participants will be asked to read the ALS learning package and complete the pre-course questionnaire – these are available on the intranet in the Library resource guide section. We request that participants print out and complete the pre-course questionnaire prior to the workshop. This will be reviewed at the beginning of the session. The workshop will involve skill stations and simulated scenarios.

Participants in the ANZCA and FPM CPD program may claim this course as a cardiac arrest emergency response activity in their CPD portfolio. A certificate of attendance will be provided at the completion of the workshop to those who meet all the objectives.

The instructors for this workshop are all ACCCN certified ALS instructors and employed by Epworth HealthCare.
