Andrew has a reputation for building strong personal relationships with clients and providing well thoughtout holistic financial advice. He is regularly called upon by CPA Australia to share his expertise at conferences and seminars. Andrew began his career as an accountant in country New South Wales in 1985 before moving to a Brisbane-based superannuation administration firm in 1989. In 1991, Andrew joined MGD as a senior accountant managing the accounting functions of the firm’s many self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs). In 1998, he became an equity owner and has been building a strong and loyal client base since then.

Stand aside David Hasselhoff! Dr Benjamin Lawry, rural generalist by weekday, bronze iconic surf lifesaver by weekend is in the house. Known simply as Dr Ben, Benjamin Lawry is the Director of Medical services at Ayr health Service and the President of the Ayr Surf Lifesaving Club and North Barrier Branch. Dr Ben has over 30 years’ experience volunteering on the beaches of north Queensland and has been known to deliver babies wearing nothing but a Lycra stinger suit.

Dr Chris Davis BSc MBChB DCH DFSRH MRCGP FRACGP is a GP VMO in addiction medicine at St Vincent's Hospital. He is also the co-founder and CMO of the social enterprise, Clean Slate Clinic. He developed a special interest in alcohol and other drugs 15 years ago whilst working as a GP in London. After emigrating to Australia in 2014 he established the innovative Clean Slate Clinic. This is an alcohol management clinic, delivered entirely over telehealth offering home alcohol withdrawal and aftercare. Their mission is to reduce health inequity and increase access to alcohol and drug treatment

Dr Craig Acton is a Rural Generalist working in St George providing care at both the St George Hospital and St George Medical Centre. Craig has an advanced skill in obstetrics and gynaecology through The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and has over 10 years of experience in this field. 

Dr Craig Acton completed both his Fellowship and Rural Generalist Fellowship with RACGP in 2024/25 and completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at James Cook University in 2006. Craig currently sits on the South West Maternity Advisory Committee and is the South West Clinical Lead for Termination of Pregnancy Services. He also assists the Flying Obstetrics and Gynaecology service providing contraceptive care. 

Outside of work Dr Craig Acton enjoys time with his family, training for triathlon and bird watching. 

Dr van der Meer is a Rural Generalist with advanced skills in mental health and addiction medicine, who is passionate about reflective practice and empowering her colleagues to achieve a sense of wellbeing and meaning in their work and home lives.

Dr Helen Newman has been working as a GP Anaesthetist since 2012, throughout North Queensland. She completed her Fellowship of Pain Medicine in 2023 and spends time working in Townsville as a Pain Physician and time working at Ayr Hospital as a Rural Generalist. This has allowed her to find balance and variety throughout her work week. She has a particular interest in Persistent Pelvic Pain and has found having a deep understanding of Pain Neuroscience leads to confidence to manage this presentation in the acute setting and office setting in the longer term.

I was born and bred on the Atherton tablelands, schooled in Ravenshoe and Herberton, and graduated from James Cook University in 2009, with the sole intention of becoming a rural GP.  I attained advanced skills training in emergency medicine and anaesthetics in Townsville, before signing a 1-year contract at Ayr Hospital in 2014...  11 years later, my family and I now call the Burdekin home.  When not running around after 3 kids I enjoy long distance running, fishing, boating, and destroying 80-year-olds at pickleball.

Isabelle Meyer joined Dementia Training Australia as Executive Director in February 2023.

Isabelle brings with her extensive experience as a Senior Executive in the Health and Education Sectors managing delivery of services around Australia. Following a decade in Academia, she has been an advisor to the Australian Commonwealth Government, the WHO and World Bank, as well as major health providers. Isabelle has led a diverse range of transition and service reform initiatives, including Emergency Patient Transport, Maternal Health, Indigenous Health, Mental Health Support, Palliative and End of Life Care and Residential Health Care as well as service transition for NDIS and Community Aged Care services and vocational education programs. She is a specialist in organizational, service and system design. Her previous Executive roles have included Deputy Chief Procurement Officer for NSW Health, the CEO of Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries NSW, General Manager for the College of Engineering and Computer Science Australian National University, Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor, and Director of Social Policy in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Isabelle is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of people living with dementia and the staff who support them.

Justin Coleman is a GP at Inala Indigenous Health Service in Brisbane, and a Senior Medical Educator with the RACGP. He has worked for 12 years in rural and remote medicine, including in three remote Aboriginal NT communities and as a practice owner in coastal Victoria. He was Director of Education for Northern Territory General Practice Education while it still existed.

Justin has published around 1500 articles and book chapters and has lectured at four universities. He was editor of a medical journal and currently co-edits Murtagh’s General Practice.

Peter Fairgray – Men’s Health Pharmacist, Men’s Health Down Under 

Peter Fairgray is Queensland’s only dedicated Men’s Health Pharmacist with Men’s Health Down Under (MHDU), a nationally recognised pharmacy-led service focused on supporting men through complex health issues with empathy, discretion, and evidence-based care. Based in Arana Hills, Peter provides a unique telehealth model of care that reaches patients across Queensland and northern New South Wales — including some of the most remote and underserved communities in the country. 

With extensive experience in men’s urological and sexual health, Peter works closely with GPs, urologists, and other healthcare professionals to support patients navigating challenges such as prostate cancer, post-operative recovery, and erectile dysfunction — especially in cases where first-line treatments like PDE5 inhibitors have failed. He offers nuanced, tailored interventions that consider both physical and psychological components of care, helping men regain quality of life. 

Peter’s approach is grounded in ongoing education, clinical collaboration, and a genuine passion for making men's health accessible and stigma-free. His work at MHDU represents a one-of-a-kind service in Queensland — bridging the gap between pharmacy and specialist care with compassion and clarity

Dr Renee Cremen is a Rural Generalist with advanced skills and training in population health, emergency medicine and medical administration and is currently the Director of Medical Services at Babinda MPHS in far north Queensland. This role provides clinical variability with her week incorporating shifts across the Emergency Department, acute ward, aged care facility and General Practice catering all ages and presentations from child health to palliation. Renee is actively involved in the Supervision and training of James Cook University Students, Interns and Registrars on a Rural Generalist pathway. She is passionate in providing exceptional primary care to the population and working closely with her colleagues especially in Geriatric medicine to create a holistic approach to healthy and informed aging with access to support and conversations around future care planning

Dr Sheila Cook is an endocrinologist and obstetric physician working in private practice in Toowoomba.  She has been in Toowoomba for twenty years and was previously the Director of Medicine at Toowoomba Base Hospital, where she established Endocrine, Diabetes and Obstetric Medicine services. 

Now in private practice, much of her work is in the field of women’s health and obesity.  She dives deeply into the physiology of obesity and the lifestyle strategies that work for women to feel better and remain healthy. 

She is the mother of 4 children and has found sprinting as her mental health plan.  She is currently ranked 3rd in the world for her age group in the 60m sprint and is the current Pan Pacific champion in the 60m, 100m and 200m sprints.

Training as a nurse, paramedic and then finally a doctor in three separate countries has let Tim develop a true interdisciplinary team outlook on medicine. FACRRM trained with Internal Medicine AST he works in diverse environments including rural communities, defence bases, Regional ED’s and on-site at concerts and music festivals.

Brian completed his medical degree at the University of Aberdeen in the UK in 1993. He trained in Geriatric and General Medicine in the Northeast of England (including a fellowship in Sydney). He underwent a 2-year teaching and research fellowship studying falls in Parkinson’s disease obtaining a doctoral degree.  

He became a Consultant Physician and Geriatrician with an interest in Parkinson’s disease in Northumbria, UK in 2002. He developed a large Parkinson’s disease service looking after over 600 patients at any one time.  In addition, he had major interests in medical management and the management of education. He became Director of Training of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and Director of Specialty Training in Health Education England. 

In 2016 he emigrated to Queensland with his family and became a Senior Staff Specialist at Redland Hospital; along with maintaining an education interest, becoming a Professor at Griffith University, and having several roles with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (he will become Adult Medicine Division president in June 2025). He currently works with A/Prof Alex Lehn (consultant neurologist) in the Metro South Movement Disorders service. They look after patients from across the Metro South area and beyond.

Professor Richard Murray is a medical practitioner with a background in rural generalist medicine, public health and academic leadership. He works for Queensland Health as Senior Clinical Lead, Rural Health Systems and sits on the Council of the NHMRC. With a career focussed on the healthcare needs of rural, Indigenous and underserved communities, Professor Murray has been influential in shaping rural health policy and practice. Past roles include Dean of the College of Medicine and Dentistry and Deputy Vice Chancellor at James Cook University, President of Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand, and President of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. He also spent 14 years in Western Australia’s Kimberley region, including as Medical Director of the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services.

Susanne Le Boutillier is a curl-whispering former health executive who knows how to lead through the stormy seas of complex change.

She once led the change to split a $10 billion health behemoth with 80,000 employees into 17 entities. She wrangled union negotiations during a public safety scandal, turning doctors, furious at the damage to their reputations, into advocates for the agreed-upon deal, which included laying the groundwork for the Rural Generalist Pathway and their remuneration as medical specialists.

She forged the first of many medical workforce innovations, including the single employer model for specialists in training, interns in the private sector and new models of intern training.

Susanne guides leaders from storm-tossed to centred calm. She offers practical tools and insights that empower leaders to make impactful decisions and stay resilient as they navigate uncertainty, adapt to evolving circumstances, and inspire others amidst disruption.
