The Como Hotel was originally built for the Germans working on the construction of the railway. This hotel has had a mixture of owners Publicans from the Catholic Church in the late 1880’s to that legend of Australian rugby league Arthur Beetson.

Unfortunately, the hotel that saw two world wars come and go, and could not withstand the fire on Sunday 3 November...

Unfortunately, the hotel that saw two world wars come and go, and could not withstand the fire on Sunday 3 November 1996.

Affectionately known as the Como Hilton, the Hotel was re-built 5 years later keeping the original brickwork and retained the burnt door which was salvaged from the fire in the hotel’s restaurant.

Como Hotel has a touch of elegance standing in the quiet backwaters of the Georges River. With remarkable views and shady verandas, this hotel is a beautiful heritage of our Shire.

Today, The Como Hotel is one of the oldest buildings in the Sutherland Shire and is an important part of the Shire’s heritage. The Hotel caters to all ages and features a bistro, a sports bar, TAB and Keno facilities, a lounge area, and a unique functions space. We also offer a kids play area for the little ones.

Is there a room hire fee?

Yes the Scylla bay room has a room hire fee starting at $500 and the private dining room has a room hire fee starting at $150, these fees are used as your non-refundable deposit to secure the room. These fees are on top of the minimum spend.

Is there a minimum spend?

Yes! Every function space has a minimum spend and yes this is on top of the room hire fee

Can we supply our own catering?

No, we can provide all your catering needs and create customised menu's where needed. You are welcome to
bring a celebration cake.

Can we hire the space for longer than 4 hours?

Yes (up to 5 hours in total), you may extend the hire period, though there is a
fee of $100p/ ½ hour

Do we serve straight alcohol in the function room

No, in the function room we do not serve shots, on the rocks, sight spirits or doubles.

Can we bring in presents that are alcoholic?

Yes, if your guests bring presents that contain alcohol, it will have to be held behind the bar until the end of the function.
