International Guest Speaker - Dr Ana Ferreiro

Dr Ana Ferreiro is a Neuromuscular Neurologist at the Reference Center for Neuromuscular Diseases, Neuromyology Department and a translational scientist and Research Director at the Myology Research Center (Institute of Myology), both in the Pitié-Salpêtrière University Hospital in Paris. For over 25 years, she has combined clinical care with basic, translational and therapeutic research on muscle diseases, with a particularly focus on congenital myopathies and desmin-related myopathies. Her work led to the phenotypical and molecular description of several entities (i.e. congenital titinopathies, recessive RYR1-related myopathies and desminopathies, SELENON-related myopathy) and to the identification of pathophysiological pathways and potentially therapeutic drugs. Dr Ferreiro was for 6 years (2019-2024) the Research Director of the European Neuromuscular Center (ENMC) and serves currently as an Executive Associate Editor for Neuromuscular Disorders.
