Abstracts Submission Guidelines

The SOC reserves the right to decide the format of presentation on the basis of time and space available.

  • Abstracts will not be accepted if they have been previously published as a full paper.

  • Abstracts will not be accepted if they have been presented elsewhere more than one year before the meeting date.

  • A condition of acceptance is that at least one author presents at the ASM. A non-author cannot present.

  • Abstracts are to be provided in English.

Types of Presentations
Platform (Oral) Presentation - If your abstract is accepted as a platform presentation you will be allocated a session (time to be advised) within the program.
Poster Presentation - If your abstract is accepted as a poster, you will be required to produce a poster which follows the poster guidelines.

Format for Abstracts
The body of the abstract (other than case reports) should be structured with following headings in bold;

  • Objectives
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions

Any abbreviations should be defined where first mentioned. Abstracts will be published as submitted without any modification.

Abstracts should be a summary of the paper and must not exceed 250 words.
Do not include titles or degrees.
Check spelling and grammar.
Present sufficient data to support conclusions – it is unsatisfactory to use statements such as “data will be presented” or “results will be discussed”.
Failure to observe these requirements will exclude the abstract from consideration.

Registration
All presenters must register to attend the ASM and are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and registration expenses. A non-author cannot present.

A condition of acceptance is that at least one author registers to presents at the ASM.

Abstract submission
On-line submission is the only method of receipt of abstracts.

You will be guided through the submission process and given instructions as required. You can save the submission at any time (even if incomplete) and return to it later, as long as it's prior to the submission deadline. You can withdraw your submission at any time.

Confirmation of Receipt of Abstracts
Immediately following submission, you will receive an acknowledgment email confirming receipt of your abstract, including a submission reference number. These details should be used if you wish to edit your abstract, up to and no later than midnight AEST on Monday, 1st July 2024.

No changes will be possible after this deadline.

Abstracts notifications will be sent out via email to submitting author only by late August 2024.
